The Courtyard Islington
A new identity for a specialist ASC provision for young students
The Courtyard Islington is a specialist ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition) provision for students aged 13-19, where they maintain an atmosphere of calmness and positivity. The staff supports, guides, and advises students to make progress toward achieving their potential academically, socially, and emotionally.
Visual Identity Development
In embarking on their new independent journey, The Courtyard sought a new visual identity that aligns with their mission and values.
The new identity aimed to align with the school's mission to foster academic and personal development, effectively capturing the essence of its values through a modern, nurturing, and vibrant aesthetic.
Welcoming, Supportive, Growth + Development
At the heart of the logo is an oak tree, a powerful symbol of strength, endurance, and growth. The oak tree not only reflects the natural environment of our school but also represents the personal and academic growth our students experience throughout their time with us. The tree's sturdy trunk signifies a strong foundation, while the expansive branches symbolise the reach and potential of our students as they grow and flourish.
The Detail Behind the Identity:
We chose a versatile typeface known for its geometric and modern design with a humanistic touch. Its friendly and approachable style makes it suitable for a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
The font's rounded characters and warm aesthetic align well with the school's visual identity, emphasising growth, calmness, and vibrancy through the use of greens, earthy tones, and warm accents like orange or yellow.
Launching into a New Academic Year with a New Website:
After completing the visual identity design as part of a pro-bono project, The Courtyard kindly asked us to also help them develop their website. This helped them to flourish and attract new prospective students to the school as well as capture the values of The Courtyard.
